Inclement weather policy

Monday-Friday
If Carroll County Public Schools are closed, or if afternoon and evening activities are canceled within the school system, the church buildings are closed for all parish and community meetings or activities for the entire day. If Carroll County Public Schools are on a delay, then we will open the buildings by 11:00 am.

Saturday
If the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect in Carroll County, the church buildings are closed and all meetings or activities are canceled. Please visit the Maryland State Police website by clicking here to find out if the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect. If in doubt, call the office at 410-848-3251 and listen to the answering machine message.

Sunday
Sunday services are normally held except during the most extreme weather.  Any change or cancellation of services will be announced on WTTR and put on the answering machine in the church office.

Recycling at Ascension

Ascension is an environmentally conscious church committed to improving the environment. As global citizens we recognize and respect how our actions affect the lives of our members, our communities, and ultimately our planet. And as this great video from the Ascension Youth Group shows, being a good steward can help your church!

Ink Jet Cartridges.   Any computer cartridge that can sit in your hand can be recycled. Once again, don't throw them away, bring them in and place in the plastic basket outside the Great Hall door leading to the Holy Cross Hall. These cartridges are turned in to Office Depot for credit against our account, thus helping save on the church's office supply expenses.

Aluminum Cans. On the third Sunday of the month bring in your empty aluminum cans (soda cans, beer cans, cat food cans, etc.) for recycling. These are then turned in to the Carroll County recycling center for cash, which goes into the Church's general budget.

Paper, books, magazines, stationery. Bring old paper products to church and dump into the yellow and green dumpster. Any paper is fine: newspapers, magazines, paperback books, comic books, old Christmas, birthday, greeting cards, letters and envelopes, old bulletins, fliers, hardback books with covers removed, blueprints, photos, etc. Our goal is to fill that dumpster twice a month to it brim!

Bulletin offering

Parishioners are now able to give the bulletin (often with a special cover) the same way you give flowers and bread & wine. The cost is just $20. and it is available for all services. A sign in area for each service along with pictures of the bulletin covers is on the bulletin board outside the Great Hall. Questions? Call the church office at 410.848.3215 or email Cheryl by clicking here.

Attention online bankers!

Have you wondered how to make your giving to Ascension easier, faster, and automatic? If you bank on line you can set-up a recurring payment to Ascension. Simply go to your bank’s website bill-pay function, add Ascension as a payee, enter our address, and schedule the payment. Because Ascension does not accept electronic payments your bank will snail mail a check automatically on the schedule that you designate. As an example you can instruct your bank to mail a check every week, and your check will arrive at church even if you oversleep, or are stuck in a snow bank, or away on vacation, or just plain forget. Think of it, you’ll never fall behind on your pledge again!

Pancakes and more

Join us for great food and fellowship the first Saturday of the month, February through December, at Ascension's increasingly famous Country Breakfast Buffet. Click here for all the details, including a menu and pricing information. And our "Breakfast Club" could use your help!  This venture is proving to be quite the success - attendance has grown substantially! - and we need more hands on Saturday each month.

United Way & Ghanaian Mothers' Hope

Ghanaian Mothers' Hope has received some fantastic news: anyone contributing to the United Way can designate GMH as their charity.  When donating, choose "other" and add the following information:

Ghanaian Mothers' Hope, Inc.
P.O. Box 45

Thank you for all your support; GMH is doing mighty work for the children of Ghana.

Blessings to share

So many of you have stepped forward to help Carroll County Food Sunday, the 1st Sunday of each month, and it is greatly appreciated. The person you help to feed may be your neighbor!

In May and October we help the Shepherd's Staff with the Blessings Closet by providing items that can not be purchased with Food Stamps, (now referred to as an Independence Card). Items such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, shampoo, diapers & baby wipes, toothpaste & tooth brushes, soap, dish liquid, cleaning products and other related items are sorely needed.

In November - March, Shepherd's Staff is collecting gentley used or new donations of infanct to adult outerwear. Items include coats, gloves, hats, and scarves. All donation can be taken to Admiral, Boscov's courtesy desk and New Windsor State Bank.

Gift Cards

Shoppers/Gift Cards orders will be taken all month, and may be turned in at any time of the month to the church office on any Sunday. Orders will be processed only once a month (unless we get a lot of orders in between that time) after the second Sunday's service and the cards will be given out on the third Sunday after services or you can pick them up from the office during the week.

Shopping cards can be used at grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, department stores, and even some hotels. Click here to see your options.

NOTE:  Giant cards can be used in both Maryland and Pennsylvania, and are valid at Martins Grocery stores
